On what platform are you runing your 7.3.3.0 ?
I tested the script provided by Timothy on our Oracle release 7.3.3.0.0 on Sun Solaris and this bug could not be reproduced. So it obviously is not a generic problem, it must be platform specific.
BTW, obviously the bug did't start with 7.3.2.3.2 as I could reproduced it on 7.3.2.1.1 also. With 7.2 it seems to be OK.
