I don't know for NT, but in UNIX... I read that you have to change the Oracle_SID
examples (depending on the Unix Shell):

sh - ORACLE_SID XXX; export ORACLE_SID csh - setenv $ORACLE_SID XXX

Please be advised that this is what I was told to do, and I too am not familiar with it myself...Just hoped I could point you to the right direction.
