Problem with version 6, can anybody help ?

We are still using version 6.0.30.3.1 of Oracle and we are trying to add another partition to our database.

We go into sqlplus as SYSTEM/password.

We type in the following -:

ALTER PARTITION SYSTEM ADD FILE '/u/oratables/dbsF.dbf'

and each time we get the following ;-

ALTER PARTITION SYSTEM ADD FILE `/u/oratables/dbsF.dbf'

                                   *

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00940: invalid ALTER command.

Are we doing something wrong ?
