Oracle Forms 4.5

I am new in Forms 4.5. I have a push button captioned "New". When this button is pushed I want the items to be empty so that the user can enter a new record. Once the user has clicked the New button, however, I want to allow the user to change his/her mind and cancel the empty or partially-empty items via a Cancel button. I am using the Create_Record statement in the WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger of the New button. Once the user is in the New Record mode, how do I cancel it, and perhaps show the last record on the screen?

Thanks in advance.
