Ad-Hoc Query Tools / Why No Browser?

Now that Oracle has decided to terminate the Oracle Browser product line, does anyone now of any similar ad-hoc query software that doesn't need a meta-data layer to use? It was a very useful DBA utility and good for some users as well, despite a few bugs.

Does anyone know what happened to SQLASSIST, a nifty product that Platinum bought a few years ago. I can't recall the name of the company that originally sold it ...

Any help appreciated.

Chris
