I also had problems. In essence, I think you might need 2 directories, one for the 16 bit stuff and one for the 32 bit. After checking the oracle web site (www.oracle.com) found 16 and 32 bit odbc check applications. These were great because they actually give you meaningful errors and repair options for sqlnet/odbc failure, something the odbc app that you get when you install sqlnet does not.

I cant remember the page (somewhere do with free applications?) but if you cant find them, then email me and I'll send it to you direct.
