You cannot connect a v2 client to a v1 server or vice-versa. v2 is only compatible with v2 and v1 is only comptible with v1.

Jurrian needs to install the windows 3.11 driver if it he really needs it. Hope he keeps in mind that it will not work against any 7.3.x server.
