Hi,
I'm using Oracle 7.3.2.3.7 on Windows Nt 4.0 and I've some erratic problems connecting to the rdbms from Windows 95 and Windows 3.11 with sqlnet V2 (TCP/IP).

There are 5 databases on the server (with 512 Mb RAM).

Sporadically, you cannot establish new TCP-connections to some of the databases, while the current sessions keep working normally and the rest of the databases keep on working also.

Loopback non-TCP connections from the NT console (with connect string  @2:SID ) are right, only remote TCP connection refuse to work: the client application simply hangs gracefully.

These errors appears in the ora_xxxx.trc trace files and sqlnet.log file:

  1. TNS: packet write failure. and
  2. TNS: connection is busy.

Shutting down the listener and/or instance doesn't suffices, I've to restart the oracle services from the NT Control Panel!!

SQL*Net configuration files where generated by Oracle Network Manager.

Oracle Support advised me to spread the databases between 2 sqlnet listeners, but it didn't help...

HELP!! Is there anybody who can help me?

You can also email me to cavannar_at_telefonica.com.ar and rcavanna_at_hotmail.com.

Thanks in advance,
Rodolfo Cavanna - Oracle DBA.
