with the v7.3.3 version of oracle on hp-ux however, according to the release notes you are able to fix it so that the SGA isn't paged out thru the use of an o/s file with specific contents and the init.ora parm lock_shared_memory = true

haven't tried this yet to test whether or not works. also don't know if this is the case for other variations on the Unix theme.
