ANSI numeric format representation

Hi,

we are looking for standardized numeric formats to represent numeric values:

For example:

value format output

1234 9G999D9 1.234,0
...

We have seen something similar to the above notation in the Oracle Manuals to
SQL*Plus Table 6-1 (their SQL interpreter) and we are wondering if these notations are
standardized. If not, where can we found such a standardized notation to

represent numeric formats (we checked the ANSI SQL manuals and couldn't find any definition, pointers to such definitions in the ANSI manual are appreciated) ?

We highly appreciate any help,

Regards, G. Hemetsberger
