RULE vs CHOOSE

Hi,

Probably another stupid question ... :-)

If the database tables are never analysed is there any point in having the OPTIMISER set to CHOOSE (the default) and in fact would it slow things down? I mean I don't know what happens in the bowels of Oracle but I'd say it would probably spend some superfluous time searching for table statistics before using rules.

Any thoughts appreciated.
