That patch is specifically for SunOS 5.5 on SPARC machines. If you are running 5.5.1 or on x86 (or both) then you need a different patch.

Here is the list of patches for this problem on different releases:

103630-09 SunOS 5.5.1
103631-09 SunOS 5.5.1_x86
103169-12 SunOS 5.5
103170-12 SunOS 5.5_x86
