Good Understanding of ORACLE Export / Import

If there is anyone who has a good understanding of what HAS to happen when a table is being exported / imported due to a multiple NEXT extent problem could they please either FAX or call me. I do not want to have to drop a table and obviously all of its indexes if I do not have to. I would appreciate any and all help. Getting through to ORACLE and obtaining an answer is virtually impossible!
