Darwin Molecular Corp, a subsidiary of Chiroscience plc, is a research company engaged in the discovery and use of medically significant genetic information to identify small organic molecules as potential therapeutic candidates.

We are seeking someone with a strong Oracle database administration / design background to work as part of a team developing relational databases which support chemistry and genomics research. You will become part of a highly skilled Computing Group that develops novel software and integrates existing software tools in support of all aspects of the company’s research.

Qualifications

Specific: This position requires significant experience in an Oracle DBA role on UNIX, preferably IRIX. The successful applicant will function as DBA for the company and should have experience with Oracle's distributed architecture including database replication. Significant experience in data modeling is also required. You must know how to normalize data models to at least the third normal form; when to relax normalization; and how to safeguard the database from inconsistencies introduced from denormalization. The applicant should have a background in PL/SQL, including trigger and stored procedure development. Perl and DBI:DBD experience is desirable.

General: The applicant should have experience in enterprise scale projects and a grasp of IS methodologies. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to work well in a collaborative environment. Position will require ability to take direction and work independently. Background in bio-tech field is desirable.
