German Umlaute (mutated vowels)

Hello!

I'm using Personal Oracle, Windows95.
I have problems with the german umlaute accessing ORACLE database via ODBC (got the ODBC driver (16bit) from ORACLE Web Server).

Reading the Umlaute via SQLPlus makes no problem. Reading them via ODBC gives me for each Umlaut the same character ('?' or '|')

The database was created using the 8bit character set WE8ISO8859P1 which must be the right one.
What can I do?

Please email me

 Regards

     Andy
