DBA Certification?

Ok I give what is the big hoopla about becoming a certified DBA? At least in the Midwest US, companies are glad to get a DBA at all with some experience. Does it really get you any more money and without the experience does it really count? Feel free to flame, cause I just don't see the real importance of it at this time in the data processing field.
