Confidential procedure, is it possible

I have to write a procedure to encode a password and I do not want the algorithm to by known. Since anyone can read the data dictionnary views, how can I "hide" the source ?

I was told that there is a way to encode a store procedure so that no one except the owner can see the source code in the dictionnary.

References and suggestions please.
