Server disk configuration

We are considering purchasing an IBM 7133 SSA disk subsystem with 8 x 4.3Gb drives, 4 mirrored on 4 giving 16Gb. of usable disk space. The primary reason is to increase the available disk space on the RS6000 58H from 8Gb (9333) to 16Gb's. Bearing in-mind that we are currently using AIX 3.25 with a maximum file size of 2Gb. We are now faced with the problem that our 4 - 2Gb Oracle data spaces spread evenly across 4 x 2GB. drives on our present 9333 drive sub-system, will now need to be placed on only 2 drives (2 data spaces on each) which would then allow the extra diskspace to be used (as we must mirror). However, will placing 2 Oracle data spaces on the same physical drive/logical volume, slow performance? Will we be suspect to drive access contention? My own thoughts are that the extra performace of the SSA disk sub-system will negate any drop in performace due to less drive spindles being used for the Oracle data spaces.
I hope I've explained the problem, and would appreciate any additional ideas on the subject....
