[Quoted] Thanks again - I tried innodb_force_recovery=2, and was then able to get into the database & copy everything.
I then moved to 5.7.17. Tried with the same datadir, but still got the error.
Reinitialised with a new datadir, no error - now I just need to import all the data back in again:-)
Still don't really know what was wrong...
