It is customary to quote sufficient context such that a specific posting can be understood even if no other information is available. This is very useful because of the way Usenet works you can never know if a referenced article is still/not yet/or not at all available to the reader. Not to mention that digging through previous articles puts an unnecessary burden on the reader.
It is also customary to publish the solution, just so that other people can benefit from your solution in the future. A "I got it now" doesn't tell anyone what you got or how you made it work.
