Hello,

due to environment limitations I'll be given storage level copy of an existing standby database

and need to add this as a second standby (the first one is the source of storage copy and will remain in configuration).

Is that even possible/supported to adjust config of new standby and make it in sync (to catch up) with primary ?

10 000 foot view seems to be:

Environment:

Oracle EE 12.1 + DG broker + standalone, no OMF no RAC no GI

  1. stop transport on primary
  2. stop apply on existing standby
  3. delete broker configuration on existing standby

3.1) shutdown existing standby

4) make final storage sync

5) provision host with standby copy

6) adjust new standby db_unique_name (How to change DB_UNIQUE_NAME in standalone database (Doc ID 2214952.1))

7) adjust ip addresses in tnsnames.ora/listener.ora

8) create new standby in broker configuration

9) add to current configuration

  1. re-add first standby to broker
  2. enable transport on primary
  3. ???
  4. profit

Am I missing something obvious here ?

Regards.

Greg
