"Having said that, this looks like a serious bug in whatever version you're using."

ð The affected version is 12.2.0.1.171017.

"SGA component growth operation has higher priority than sessions allocating memory and sessions have to wait"

ð That sounds plausible. However, since MMAN seemed idle I'm speculating that something in the inter-process communication might have wrong, so the sessions "thought" that the resizing operation was still going on.

"Session doesn't make that decision."

ð My understanding is that memory allocations are done by sessions themselves by calling kgha* functions. So I assume - but I might be wrong here - that some of those functions are checking for on-going resizing operations. I'd like to know precisely which mechanism is used for coordinating this interaction. I mean something like latch, mutex, pin, message etc. In fact, understanding these internals was the main motivation for posting this problem.

"Please call support"

ð I'd like to better understand and possibly reproduce the problem first.

Best regards,

Nenad
