And if you're interested in SQLCl , I believe it can be installed separately from SQLDeveloper (so you don't have to install SQLDeveloper entire)

Although getting it to run stand-alone on Linux was a bit of a pain - had to modify the sql binary to comment out the "checkADE" because it wouldn't set JAVA_HOME correctly in the new version of sqlcl.
