Lets say the client wants to remove RAC.

With DG + FSFO you get HA and DR in one, with an approximate 1 minute outage whilst the observer switches the Primary and Standby roles. You can add onto that the corruption checking and auto-healing you get with DG, low impact backup from DR site, etc.

You lose the zero-outage patching capability, zero downtime server outage and horizontally scaling for writes but the cost and complexity reduction may be worth it in your circumstance.
