just for completeness. There is a x$ table which lists all the actions/tasks regarding background processes.
SQL> select PROCESS_NAME_KSBTABACT as PNAME, ACTION_DESCRIPTION_KSBTABACT as ACTIONS
from X$KSBTABACT
order by PNAME, ACTIONS;
