I’m thinking about that, but don’t really see the difference between it and dataguard.

Thanks,

I cant think of any way to do reliable HA (as opposed to DR) across the country. You could in theory do an active-passive cluster, that would technically be HA, but really its more DR as you active that the passive side when the active side fails.

We did that for a while. It was great when the datacenters were within 10 miles of each other. When they moved to opposite ends of the country it wasn’t so great.

Well, SRDF is out there, but in that case the other instance is not running, its just sitting out there. Its not really HA. There is also stretch rac,

I got this directive from my management. COB is our terminology for Disaster Recovery.

As part of the strategic course we are taking – we are looking at eliminating COB and go to a fully HA model (not only within DC, but also leveraging other DC) as such we want to look at tools/methods, etc… around DB DC replication.

Thoughts on best tools out there today to accomplish this (speed is a key component)

Other than Dataguard, which does require another instance, does anyone know of any other solutions?
