That's up to you to determine. Only you know what skillset intersections you might possess. What David is saying is that the traditional DBA role is almost extinct and it's now mixed in with a multitude of other responsibilities. If you want to work in that space, and are trying to find demand, you need to shift left. Look for development roles with a highly data-centric focus.
