Yes, there are reasons not to do so. The first and foremost reason is recovery. If you have a 500GB file damaged, you need to restore 500G file and recover it. If you have 32GB file damaged, you need to restore 32GB and recover it. Restoring 32GB is usually a tad faster than restoring 500GB. That can be a world of difference, if CIO is looking over your shoulder and asking "are we done yet?".
