f you do non-level 0 backups as part of your strategy then in order to do a restore, backups from earlier than your recovery window may be needed. RMAN is aware of this and a delete obsolete command will not remove those backups. I’ve always set control_file_record_keep_time to account for needed backups taken earlier than the "recovery window"
