Well, many backup suites have automated such stuff. I would recommend
Commvault 11, which has really made things simple. Commvault is a top
notch backup suite which can handle not only Oracle, but also SQL
Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and DB2, among others. It can also backup file
system, MS Exchange and Domino. It has archiving as well as backup.
