flash size

We are using RAC/ASM on HPUX running 11g. So I get a warning that my flash diskgroup is above 91%. I know how to add to a regular diskgroup but isn't flash associated with backup? Do I have to add to the this diskgroup or is it a growth/shrink type situation?
