SQL Developer is dist with the oracle client

Tools > Monitor Sessions

Right-click to kill/trace

Click to see plan and more

Takes about 2 minutes to demo/train.

If it’s not for you but for an org, probably prefereable to something like SQLcl which assumes you’re comfortable with a CLI/raw sql commands. It’s also supported by Oracle, even though it’s ‘free’.

Sure.  One that runs with the oracle client preferably, but is primarily monitoring software without a lot of other functionality to navigate through to get to the screen of interest.  I dont want to have to go through a two hour class to explain to the people I give the tool how to use it.

So not just any free software out there, but one that is ‘lightweight.’

Can you please define, lightweight?

I am aware of that one.  However, I was really looking for something a little more lightweight, preferable something that pretty just has a session viewer.

I know we have had this discussion before, but I am specifically looking for just one thing.  In the Oracle 10g client we had the nice java window that would show all the running queries on the database, and allow you to look at the query, and the explain plan, and kill the query if you had appropriate privileges.

This behavior was moved out of the client and into the massive footprint of oem cloud control in later versions.  Is there any software out there that I can run that will show just that, the running queries on the database, and allow me to kill them if I am logged in with the appropriate privileges?
