cluster_interconnects empty on QR X5-2

Hi,
I've noticed that cluster_interconnects DB parameter is empty on our QR X5-2 Exa with 12.1.0.2 GI and DB version . Can't really figure out what are the ramifications and best practices around that parameter .
Let me just say that all seems to work properly but some clarification would not hurt me :) .
Any thoughts ?
