My typical use case for BIP in OEM is graphing/automating the viz of metric extensions if you are managing let's say 40+ exadata environments this is a good way to standardize the emailed reports to the DBA group. An example of that is here
http://www.slideshare.net/karlarao/o-2013-ultimate-exadata-io-monitoring-flash-harddisk-write-back-cache-overhead

Another one is let's say if you are building a historical perf data of your active data guard environment
https://github.com/karlarao/gvash_to_csv/releases/download/v1.0/Metric.Extension.-.gvash.to.csv.docx then again you can use BIP to graph that historical data.

But creating graphs in BIP is not straightforward because you have to create the model first. Unlike tableau where it's drag and drop and very useful for exploratory analysis. But once you get past the modeling and creating the viz you can save that and as a file and you can reuse it on other environments.

I hope OEM will shift from BIP to Visual Analyzer because that thing is cool and more powerful ;)
