The application runs on Windows 2008 sp2 32 bit and currently connects to Oracle 11.2.0.4 on the same machine. I built a copy of the database in Oracle 12.1.0.2 running Linux x86-64 (Red Hat 6.2). When we try to connect we get "no matching authentication protocol".

I found a reference to the SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VESRSION_server and ...client parameters as a workaround. So my questions are:

  1. Has anyone tried this?
  2. It looks like you are supposed to put this parameter in the sqlnet.ora file which applies to all listeners and databases in the given ORACLE_HOME. What impact will this have on other applications and databases?

Thanks,
Peter
