I would also suggest that if you suspect resource contention, the setup a perfmon counter to keep an eye on the usage. You can then correlate the crashes with dips/surges in the perfmon output.

If you have never done perfmon before, please do read a bit as wrongly configured it has the potential to fill up the disk pretty quick,and by default it will write to your systemdrive.
