I noticed on AIX tcp_recvspace is at 262144, makes the values in Oracle's documentation look kind of small.
in solaris 2.6 for example, it used to be
send_buf_size = 8k
recv_buf_size = 32k
I wonder nowadays how much impact these parameters can now have, given the high tcp window values at the os level.
Though even the Oracle Tech note 260984.1 (last checked in 2012) emphasizes that most times it's better to just leave the values at their default.
