I am using XFS for years, because of the defragmenter. Ext4 didn't have defragmenter until relatively recently and e4defrag did cause quite a few corruptions. I used to work with Irix and Indigo II and Indy workstations and know XFS from that time. It's rock solid and has never caused me any issues. It supports asynchronous IO and direct IO. XFS actually performs better than Ext4 with large files like DBF files or VMDK files. I never once had Oracle ask me which file system am I using. I know that Red Hat was charging for XFS support but was unaware that Oracle is doing the same. In my opinion, it's silly.
