Old timers like us still see “Oracle-L” as an “Oracle RDBMS” list. Not NoSQL, not BigData, not Berkely DB, not TimesTen, not MySQL. Although http://www.freelists.org/list/oracle-l says “This is an unmoderated forum for the discussion of anything to do with using Oracle databases.” Again, https://www.oracle.com/database/index.html shows “Oracle 12c” when I navigate from https://www.oracle.com/products/index.html#menu-products-n-services to “See all database products”

Let’s keep it an “Oracle RDBMS” list.

I don't exactly rule with an iron fist around here, but I'd like to keep the list to discussion about Oracle database related questions. I would argue that MySQL is not an "Oracle database".

Also, although there are probably many folks with MySQL expertise on this list, I'd wager you're more likely to find more MySQL expertise and better answers to your questions, on a list that's MySQL-specific.

Sheesh ... the next thing you know, we'll have questions about WebLogic Server, SOA Suite, Identity Management, Linux, or any of the 1,800 other Oracle products ... ;-)

However, I, for one, would welcome questions in Oracle-L on topics about Oracle products other than just Oracle Database Server.

On the other hand, there are some well established lists in the community that are excellent. You might check http://lists.mysql.com/ for the more official lists.
