One of the customers faced performance (optimizer) issues after upgrading 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.4 to their customized HR module code in Oracle ERP. As a workaround, set the Setting optimizer_features_enable to 11.2.0.1 and everything back to normal.

You must be careful if you are going to change the COMPATIBLE parameter. Most importantly, test, test and test all functionality in non-production thoroughly.
