Yes, I checked this when rerunning the test case. Run merge first so there's no hard parse on 2nd execution then repeat test, no block. Change the "z" aliases in the merge, no block.

But as is, I reproduced the reported issue in 11.2.0.3 and 12.1.0.2 (within a single PDB).
