That's pretty much what I have done........I click and it doesn't show up. I did download the newer jdk and install it. It's not even asking me where that is.....

It probably can't find java
Launch sql developer from a cmd window, out of the install directory/bin subdirectory. You should see any error messages there.

I downloaded sql developer 4 and extracted it, downloaded the jdk 8 and installed. Now when I click on sql dev app, nothing happens. How can I tell what it's doing? Why isn't it working?
