Hello
I have just started to understand and learn MS SQL Server 2012 and from what I understood so far
Why would anyone want to implement MS SQL Server ? If cost is one reason, then there are options like MySQL or MongoDB which would be less expensive than Oracle and can be used on multiple platforms. If application vendor restricts to use MS SQL server then that is the only reason I find to use MS SQL Server.
The other reason is probably the shop does not have unix sysadmins and are comfortable with windows (windows shop). Are there any other reasons why somebody would choose MS SQL server?

Thank you
Kumar
