Okay Pete, I’ll bite:

That could mean: a) No way that is gonna work. We know it won’t work. Don’t even bother trying.

or b) We have no idea whether that will work, we’re not going to try to figure out whether it might work, and don’t call us about it if you have trouble, ‘cause that is not something we support and it is not how we told you to do it.

Either meaning is reasonable, but if you happen to know it is a non-starter, that is extra useful information.

(and if you’d like to explain the differences between deprecated, no longer supported, and no longer available I’ll buy you a beer at the IOUG party at OOW.)

Subject: EM 2-system upgrade... on the same host?

I parsed through OTN, the documentation, etc.

Has anyone tried to do the 2-system EM upgrade but pointing it to the same host as the original EM11g installation?

We're wondering if we could just end up with an EM12c with non-standard port numbers, or if a pre-upgrade check will notice what we're plotting and show us a warning that we're crazy then refuse to move forward.

I realize the confusion this could cause with all those remote agents pointing to the same host. LOL

I am ready to do the 1-system upgrade but we're wondering if we could avoid the down time AND use one host.

(and no, this wasn't my idea)
