Just a nit. A really small database doesn't factor in hugepages. It's SGA size (I know you know this Mark, others maybe not).

Another scenario that can make hugepages less critical is a small-SGA + huge PGA Parallel Query system. Attach counts are low, SGA small...

Just a thought.

Unless the database is really small, and/or very low load, hugepages is a must.
