Hi all, we are migrating a SAP database to Oracle 11g 11.2.0.3 two node RAC on Sun T5 servers with Solaris 11 LDOMs. We have been having some performance issues and have a SAP engineer engaged to review. The consultant threw a bomb today that the 11.2.0.3 (or 11.2.0.4) RAC with ZFS 3-2 Storage Appliance (utilizing DNFS) is non-supported configuration by Oracle and hence SAP also do not support this configuration. I have searched MOS and found nothing that definitively states one way or the other, but was frankly surprised that this might possibly be true. It may just indicate my search skills. SAP consultant says RAC 11.2.0.2 on ZFS is supported combination. The main reference for this is in SAP Support Note 527843, but reading this note did not give me a clear idea either.

Are you using 11.2.0.3+ with ZFS Storage Appliance for Oracle RAC database? Why is this unsupported combination? Any help in guiding us in the right direction is much appreciated.

Also, I am new to ZFS Storage Appliance, any guidance on configuration, warnings, pain points, best practices would be really useful.

Thanks in advance...

Best,
Biju Thomas
