Something to highlight back to Java developers, especially 3-tier guys using the Oracle JDBC drivers or JDBC/JDNI Connection Pools.

For years (and years and years) all the demos showed "jdbc:oracle:thin:_at_host:port:sid" and that "black magic" has been propagated throughout our industry.

(This describes the variants, including IPv6 http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/java.112/e16548/urls.htm#JJDBC08200)

(BTW,
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/java.112/e16548/overvw.htm#JJDBC28044 is a great feature list that might encourage Java developers to read the doc...)
