Tangentially-related question:

We're looking at the latest OMS, 12.1.0.3, but it still requires WLS 11g (10.3.6) (and let's not get started on that numbering system....)

WLS itself is up to 12.1.2... any indication when EM (OMS) will move to the 12.1 WLS?

Subject: EM 12c Install - WLS / OMS

Hi all,

I find myself a little bit frustrated with the OMS install process right now, and wondering if I'm simply missing something, or...

Our first OMS was on a VM, and has never been quite stable. We've procured a physical server, and I'm working my way through the install on that - which is part of where I'm getting frustrated. On our VM host, we started with 12.1.0.1. Since the OMS installer will install WLS, it prompts for the path for Fusion Middleware, and then installs the OMS under it (e.g. D:\oracle\middleware and D:\oracle\middleware\oms).

When we upgraded to 12.1.0.2 and then to 12.1.0.3, those OMS installs went into separate homes: D:\oracle\12.1.0.2\oms and D:\oracle\12.1.0.3\oms respectively. No problems there, but... I can't remove the D:\oracle\middleware directory (obviously) because of the WLS install; but I also have the original OMS folder within there, consuming another 2+ GB space.

In the course of this install, I was certainly hoping we could have the OMS home outside the middleware home - since the OMS upgrades seem to be far more frequent than the WLS upgrades (at least so far as are certified with the OMS). I even went so far as to do a manual pre-install of the WLS alone, hoping that would allow me to install the OMS in a separate home... No luck there either. When I run the OMS install, it wants to know the MW home - and wants to install the OMS under it.

Bah. Is there any way to install an OMS home outside of the MW home?

Thanks!
