I prefer email lists *MUCH* more. Every forum requires a separate login, each with their own username/password/hint rules. Some aren't mobile-friendly, either. This isn't very efficient (well, for me at least).  Email OTOH is a very handy consolidation of forums, yet still offers threading and other management. I also prefer the "push" delivery of email versus the requirement to "pull" from forums.

I'm on one forum that happens to duplicate to email. Best of both worlds perhaps, but there's an expense involved in the maintenance and hosting.

Part of my $.02 anyway... :)
