For some people the choice may involve where they feel they get the best support.

Been a long time and I do not know any longer personally but at one point Red Hat had ( and may still have ) a very good reputation for support.

At my previous job we had everything running on Oracle Linux.  Only had to open a few SR's over the years and only had to try get good timely effective Linux support from Oracle a couple of times.

Would love to say that I was happy with my experience with Oracle support for Linux.  That however would be a complete fabrication.

Oracle probably does have some very good Linux support people somewhere.  For the average job Oracle customer however ... well ... fill in the blank.  If you are working for the correct organization or have the ability to know some of the big players in Linux at oracle your experience may be different.

On the last SR I worked I did eventually get an answer ... and it worked ... eventually.  It was almost 8 weeks into the SR however.  It started out with me giving the information that we were running 6.2 and Oracle Linux support kept trying to force a 5.x solution that guess what ... did not work on 6 ... if anyone from oracle Linux management wants to know the SR # please email me off line.

Your mileage may vary ...
